Trevor Frehner, a massage therapist, is using a back room at the salon, 355 W. Mesquite Blvd., Suite D-70, to offer a variety of different massages. A massage therapist working in a hair salon is not unique to Roots. Normally message therapists are connected with a spa, a chiropractor or a physically therapist, the 32-year-old Frehner said. Lately, however, the new trend is for hair salons to hire message therapists. Frehner has 11 years of experience. After going to school, eight hours day, six days a week for seven months, he graduated in 2003 from the School of Massage Therapy in Las Vegas. A Mesquite native, Frehner is well known around the valley. After graduation he worked at the CasaBlanca Spa and has worked, on-call, at Fit Physical Therapy. Frehner will be working at Roots Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and fills up the rest of his week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at a salon in Hurricane, Utah. He said hed like to make Roots a full time gig, five or six days a week. Im licensed in both Nevada and Utah and I am one of the rare independent contractors of message therapy, Frehner said. Nevada, especially Mesquite, is very strict about licensing requirements.

Post-event massage may be used to reduce muscle soreness associated with DOMS (delayed onset muscles soreness) and feeling of fatigue.
