Show Caption Previous Next If youre up for unique, experimental, unpredictable performancesand the personalities and parties that go along with themyoure in luck. The 11th annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival is upon us. Ostensibly, the Fringe is theater, but little of it will look familiar to regulars of, say, Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company or the Broadway series at the Aronoff Center. Theres interactive comedy, flashbacks to the 1960s and 1770s, women romping as pirates, sign-of-the-times drama, solo storytelling, conceptual dance as social activism and, as the title of one show lays out, short-attention-span theater30 plays shoved into an hour. In all, there are 32 productionsabout half from local creators and performers, the rest from all over the country and beyond. While Know Theatre is the festivals host, performances are scheduled in 10 other locales, several of whichincluding an open room in a chiropractors officewould otherwise never be confused for theater spaces. The Fringe opens Wed., May 28, with shows happening simultaneously every night at every venue through Sunday, June 7. Each production will see three to five performances during that span. WCPO.com will help you sort the wheat from the what? by reviewing most, if not every, show. Its a struggle to do edgier work in this city, so an upstart company with no audience to speak of has a much easier time generating audience with Fringe than trying to do it on their own, said Eric Vosmeier, executive director of Know Theatre and the Fringe Festival. Vosmeier is soon stepping down after five years in both capacities.

PAUL, Minn. (AP) A chiropractor is charged with sexually assaulting a female patient at his office in St. Paul. A criminal complaint says 54-year-old Paul David Thompson assaulted the 27-year-old woman during an appointment May 8. Thompson is charged with third- and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The complaint says a Ramsey County sheriff’s investigator set up a call between the woman and Thompson during which Thompson apologized for the assault. Yankton Doctor Named Chiropractor Of The Year – Yankton Press & Dakotan: Community

Yankton Doctor Named Chiropractor Of The Year By Derek Bartos derek.bartos@yankton.net yankton.net | 0comments When Dr. Jim Fitzgerald was an athlete at Scotland High School more than 30 years ago, medical care for students was quite different than it is today. Back at that time, there were no athletic trainers, so there really wasnt anywhere to go to help get over those sports-related injuries, he said. As a result, Fitzgerald had to seek treatment for his injuries outside the school, which he often did with chiropractic care. In doing so, he saw a glimpse into his future. The doctors I saw here in Yankton were the ones who got me through those things more than anybody else, he said. Thats what persuaded me to investigate the chiropractic profession more. That curiosity blossomed into a highly successful career, with Fitzgerald attaining numerous professional and civic accomplishments. In recognition of his work, the Yankton doctor was recently named Chiropractor of the Year by the South Dakota Chiropractors Association (SDCA). He was chosen for the honor by his peers. Its pretty humbling to know that my peers thought I was deserving of such an award, considering there are about 350 doctors of chiropractic in the state, Fitzgerald said. Im very appreciative. After graduating from high school in 1983, Fitzgerald received his undergraduate degree at Mount Marty College before obtaining his chiropractic degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic (now Northwestern Health Sciences University) in Bloomington, Minnesota. He began his professional career in Yankton, working for about a year as an associate doctor with Dr. Tom Stotz at Stotz Chiropractic.

“A store that provides the highest-quality natural and organic products and soon to have all products labeled if they contain genetically modified organisms is sorely needed and would receive strong neighborhood support,” the petition stated. There is currently no Whole Foods grocery store in the Tri-Cities area . The two closest Whole Foods stores are in Wheaton and Naperville. More than 600 people have signed his petition, which is at http://petitions.moveon.org. His goal is to get 1,000 signatures. Last week, his sister hand-delivered a petition containing 560 signatures to Whole Foods’ corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas. Allison Phelps, public relations specialist for Whole Foods Market Midwest Support Office, said Whole Foods is not currently considering opening a store in Geneva. “Whole Foods Market is always looking for new, vibrant communities like Geneva, where we think we can be of service; however there are no plans to open a store in Geneva at this time,” Phelps said in an email. Phelps said the company does listen to communities when choosing where to locate a future store and recommended that people contact the company through its website . Deniz said he plans to continue his petition.
