Yankton Doctor Named Chiropractor Of The Year – Yankton Press & Dakotan: Community

Yankton Doctor Named Chiropractor Of The Year By Derek Bartos derek.bartos@yankton.net yankton.net | 0comments When Dr. Jim Fitzgerald was an athlete at Scotland High School more than 30 years ago, medical care for students was quite different than it is today. Back at that time, there were no athletic trainers, so there really wasnt anywhere to go to help get over those sports-related injuries, he said. As a result, Fitzgerald had to seek treatment for his injuries outside the school, which he often did with chiropractic care. In doing so, he saw a glimpse into his future. The doctors I saw here in Yankton were the ones who got me through those things more than anybody else, he said. Thats what persuaded me to investigate the chiropractic profession more. That curiosity blossomed into a highly successful career, with Fitzgerald attaining numerous professional and civic accomplishments. In recognition of his work, the Yankton doctor was recently named Chiropractor of the Year by the South Dakota Chiropractors Association (SDCA). He was chosen for the honor by his peers. Its pretty humbling to know that my peers thought I was deserving of such an award, considering there are about 350 doctors of chiropractic in the state, Fitzgerald said. Im very appreciative. After graduating from high school in 1983, Fitzgerald received his undergraduate degree at Mount Marty College before obtaining his chiropractic degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic (now Northwestern Health Sciences University) in Bloomington, Minnesota. He began his professional career in Yankton, working for about a year as an associate doctor with Dr. Tom Stotz at Stotz Chiropractic.

“A store that provides the highest-quality natural and organic products and soon to have all products labeled if they contain genetically modified organisms is sorely needed and would receive strong neighborhood support,” the petition stated. There is currently no Whole Foods grocery store in the Tri-Cities area . The two closest Whole Foods stores are in Wheaton and Naperville. More than 600 people have signed his petition, which is at http://petitions.moveon.org. His goal is to get 1,000 signatures. Last week, his sister hand-delivered a petition containing 560 signatures to Whole Foods’ corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas. Allison Phelps, public relations specialist for Whole Foods Market Midwest Support Office, said Whole Foods is not currently considering opening a store in Geneva. “Whole Foods Market is always looking for new, vibrant communities like Geneva, where we think we can be of service; however there are no plans to open a store in Geneva at this time,” Phelps said in an email. Phelps said the company does listen to communities when choosing where to locate a future store and recommended that people contact the company through its website . Deniz said he plans to continue his petition.

Walk In Chiropractic Emphasizes Convenience, Maintenance : Business

Chiropractor accused of sexual assault of patient – San Antonio Express-News

What is being done to expand the business? We currently have plans to open more locations across Montana. Like I said before, minimizing debt is very important to us. Only time will tell how fast that happens, but I predict two additional locations by the end of 2014. Right now, we are working to finalize the concept and business systems so that when the time is right to open more locations we will be ready internally. And, most importantly, our new customers and staff will have a good experience from the start. Your best business decisions? Treating employees like family, getting to know who they are and making sure that they know we have their back in any situation. Your worst business mistake? Hiring people that I knew were not a good fit for the job they were hired for.

High Country Running: Chiropractic A Search For Alignment Solutions

Cincy Fringe Festival brings the unpredictable and, often, unexplainable to OTR—on stage and off – Story

I cant take care of anyones chronic IT band problem without making bayview wellness center and spa sure their hips are working right with regard to strength, mobility and alignment. Otherwise, itll continue to wear, tear and put strain on that one particular body part. This approach of treating the pain and figuring out where it is coming from is what makes a sports chiropractor such an asset. There is a prevalent philosophy and ongoing challenge in chiropractic to seek the cause of a problem. Thats what I enjoy best; Im a problem solver. Experience has shown that often solving problems means figuring things out that others have not been able to fix. My professional goal is to be a beacon for quick and effective answers. This is an important point because, to some people, time on the bench is money out of the bank. And for others where it is not really about money, getting off the bench just means theyre back in the game that much quicker! What are some pearls of wisdom for runners looking to prevent injury and increase performance on their own?

Shortly into the year, he had a change of heart when it came to his career choice. I started doing observatory hours in hospitals for medical school and I realized I wanted to be on the proactive side of health care, said Duke. Three and a half years later, Duke graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College. Everyday I get to come in and see miracles, Duke said. Chiropractor convicted of exploiting the elderly

Those that are seeking treatment for tension headaches may often see a drastic improvement with just a few spinal adjustments as the nerves become less irritated and the muscles are more relaxed. Dr. Jason Miller, an Attleboro and Seekonk, MA chiropractor, may do one or more of the following if you suffer from a primary headache: Perform spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress on a patient’s system; Provide nutritional advice, recommending a change in diet and perhaps the addition of B complex vitamins; Offer advice on posture, ergonomics, exercises and relaxation techniques. This advice should help to relieve the recurring joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back. “Chiropractic treatment may play a significant role in reducing the number of migraines a person has. By careful manipulation of the neck and spine, chiropractic adjustments may be able to reduce irritation in the spine, preventing radiating or referred pain, and improving vascular flow,” said Dr. Miller about patients in Attleboro and Seekonk with headaches. Chiropractic treatment centers around the idea of manipulating the spinal column and neck to improve posture and blood flow. I’d only send my baby to one under very specific circumstances. Before we get into it, it’s worth noting that the chiropractor who reportedly broke the baby’s neck wasn’t really given any real repercussions. According to reports, the chiropractor in question was simply told to take more classes in how to treat small children. Seems like a pretty lenient “punishment” for someone who broke an infant’s neck. And also part of the problem. I think if people are going to take their baby to a chiropractor, they should go to someone who specializes in baby chiropractic adjustment, as opposed to going to a regular chiropractor. We take our kids to pediatricians and pediatric dentists; why would this be a case where someone who typically works on adults has license to work on babies? They’re not the same. That should be the change that’s implemented — right now — to avoid having this ever happen again. Baby chiropractors don’t need to be banned altogether, but if someone is going to work on a baby, they should be trained a million times over in that specific area. (Hello, they’re right near the spine!) Now, check out a video of a little cutie getting their back worked on.

Chiropractor Breaks 4-Month-Old’s Neck During Treatment

It happened last year when the chiropractor, whose name as not released, treated a 4-month-old baby girl for torticollis, or what’s described as an abnormal neck position. During the adjustment, the doctor accidentally fractured one of the baby’s vertebrae. “Another few millimeters and there would have been a devastating spinal cord injury and the baby would have either died or had severe neurological impairment with quadriplegia,” Dr. Chris Pappas, who later treated the girl and aided in her recovery, told the Herald. Editor’s Note: ObamaCare Is About to Strike. Are You Prepared? Pappas filed a complaint with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, which later referred the case to the Chiropractic Board. He then received a letter about three weeks ago informing him that the case had been closed and the chiropractor in question had agreed to complete further education. Pappas said the Board’s decision in essence gives the OK to chiropractors to practice on infants and small children, something that he thinks is unsafe. “I think they have put the chiropractor’s interests before the interests of the public,” he told the Herald. “[Treating infants] is inappropriate and it carries a very small but real risk of causing damage, and in some cases, devastating damage.” However, Laurie Tassell, president of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia, argues that it is safe to practice on a person of any age. “Chiropractic care can be remarkably gentle,” Tassell said.

Chiropractor Breaks Baby’s Neck, Allowed To Keep Practicing

11. “I think in 1962 the cops broke my shoulder with a baton, and it always bothered me,” Trejo, 69, explains. RELATED: ‘MACHETE KILLS,’ MOVIE REVIEW “I walk up to (Gibson), he looks at me and says, ‘You got a bad shoulder, huh?’ Then he pushed on it and you heard this sound, and it hasn’t bothered me since. He’s like a chiropractor; he was fixing everybody’s backs on the set.” In director Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete Kills,” Trejo reprises the role of Machete Cortez – a machete-wielding ex-Federale who gorily avenged the deaths of his wife and daughter at the hands of a Mexican drug lord in 2010’s “Machete.” Cortez is enlisted by U.S. President Rathcock (Carlos Estevez, aka Charlie Sheen) to deal with a nuclear threat south of the border, putting him on a collision course with countless assassins, a twisted Mexican revolutionary (Demian Bichir) north york chiropractors and a ruthless arms dealer played by Gibson. “This film is such an adrenaline rush,” Trejo says. RELATED: ALEXA VEGA SHOOTS PAST SPY KIDS FOR MORE GROWN UP ROLE IN MACHETE KILLS Machete Kills also stars Sophia Vergara and Alexa Vega. As violent as its predecessor, “Machete Kills” ratchets up the babe factor. It features such Latina lovelies as Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexa Vega alongside franchise veterans Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba. When asked which of the actresses would win a beauty pageant with him as its sole judge, Trejo couldn’t bear the thought. “There’s no way,” he jokes. “If I had to pick one, I’d (shoot) myself.” For Trejo, becoming a movie star – and being surrounded by some of the world’s hottest women as part of your job description – would have seemed like nothing but a pipe dream when he was a younger, troubled man.
