The 11th annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival is upon us. Ostensibly, the Fringe is theater, but little of it will look familiar to regulars of, say, Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company or the Broadway series at the Aronoff Center. Theres interactive comedy, flashbacks to the 1960s and 1770s, women romping as pirates, sign-of-the-times drama, solo storytelling, conceptual dance as social activism and, as the title of one show lays out, short-attention-span theater30 plays shoved into an hour. In all, there are 32 productionsabout half from local creators and performers, the rest from all over the country and beyond. While Know Theatre is the festivals host, performances are scheduled in 10 other locales, several of whichincluding an open room in a chiropractors officewould otherwise never be confused for theater spaces. The Fringe opens Wed., May 28, with shows happening simultaneously every night at every venue through Sunday, June 7. Each production will see three to five performances during that span. WCPO.com will help you sort the wheat from the what? by reviewing most, if not every, show. Its a struggle to do edgier work in this city, so an upstart company with no audience to speak of has a much easier time generating audience with Fringe than trying to do it on their own, said Eric Vosmeier, executive director of Know Theatre and the Fringe Festival. Vosmeier is soon stepping down after five years in both capacities.

CHARGES: Little Canada chiropractor sexually assaulted patient – Houston weather, traffic, news | FOX 26 | MyFoxHouston
PAUL, Minn. (AP) A chiropractor is charged with sexually assaulting a female patient at his office in St. Paul. A criminal complaint says 54-year-old Paul David Thompson assaulted the 27-year-old woman during an appointment May 8. Thompson is charged with third- and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The complaint says a Ramsey County sheriff’s investigator set up a call between the woman and Thompson during which Thompson apologized for the assault. The woman told police she had seen the chiropractor about twice a week for three years to treat her pain. The St. Paul Pioneer Press ( http://bit.ly/1t1PUKM ) says Minnesota Board of Chiropractors Examiners placed Thompson on probation in 1991 and again in 2005. Thompson told police complaints had been lodged against him for inappropriate touching. A call to Thompson’s home and office was not immediately returned.
